    Antique Mailboxes
Are you interested in finding some antique mailboxes? If your house gives off a bit of an old fashioned or rustic flair, you might find it fitting to look into some antique mailboxes. Antique mailboxes can add charm, class and style to the outside of your house, the only thing is you need to find a mailbox which suits both your personality as well as the exterior.
If you’re not sure what to get, I’ve gone and done some research into some of the best antique mailboxes I could find and have come back with a few reviews here which will help you to make your final decision. All of these can be found online off of Amazon and possibly other stores as well:
1. Architectural Mailboxes Coronado Mailboxes with Antique Copper Accents
Now this is a beautifully crafted antique mailbox if I do say so myself, one of the best looking ones I’ve ever seen to be honest. To further attest to that, this has a star rating of 5/5 from 6 reviewers, something that is rare.
This has solid die cast brass accent pieces to it, and an elegant design with amazing detail. It is 22x11.25x10 inches(depth x width x height). It is shaped in your classic barn type shape, cylindrical with a flat base, however this looks nothing like a barn. This in fact looks like the front of an impressive black with gold plating steam locomotive. The mailbox is black and around the front of it is brass lining and a brass knob at the top as well so that you can open and close it. There is also a nicely faded bronze flag on the side, it’s a nice rustic color.
This is a very sturdy and attractive mailbox, it is quite heavy and large, but it is easy to install onto a post. For $180, this is probably your best bet if you’re looking for a mailbox to sit atop a post.
2. Peninsula Mailbox
Search for this by name on Amazon and you will find another beautifully crafted mailbox which has been rated 4.5/5 stars by 6 reviewers.
This one is over 14 pounds of 8 and 20 gauge brass finished with antique copper. This has a locking access door with stainless steel cam lock as well as 2 keys to secure the mail.
There is a large 1 ½” x 13” mail slot which is large enough to accept regular mail as well as small mail bundles. This is 16.5”Wx13.5”Hx6.5”D and 16 pounds, it can be mounted on a wall or a fence depending on your preference.
As far as how this looks, it is a square box with a wavy top that comes to a rounded curve in the middle. Below that is a thin rectangular slot for you to slip in letters and below that is a large rectangular area with a lock which you can open up like a door to retrieve your mail. This one sells for $170.25.
If you’re looking for antique mailboxes, you can’t go wrong with either of these. There are other antique mailboxes out there for less, but they won’t be quite as beautiful as these.
